1st March, 2009
In honour of St David, the National Botanic Garden of Wales is FREE to all visitors on March 1 and, as part of the celebrations, there will be a world record attempt for the most people in Welsh national costume, in one place at one time.
The plan is to count all the people in the Garden who are in national dress at 12 noon and hopefully set a new world record.
Head of marketing, David Hardy said: “It is going to be a brilliant day and, probably, one of the busiest in the Garden’s history.
“First of all, the BBC are in the Garden broadcasting their Radio 4 Sunday Worship progamme – which will all happen before we actually open to the public.
“We are also launching a fabulous new garden book called Discovering Welsh Gardens, written by Times garden writer Stephen Anderton with wonderful images by award-winning photographer by Charles Hawes.”
• The Garden is open from 10am until 4.30pm (last entry 3.30pm).
• Sunday Worship will be broadcast live from the National Botanic Garden of Wales’ Great Glasshouse on BBC Radio 4 and will feature Cor Caerfyrddin. The programme runs from 8.10am until 8.50am on Sunday March 1.
