One of the most viewed pages on Gardenandgreen.co.uk was a page which listed which toothpaste contained plastic microbeads. So, here is a similar page which is a list of food products and whether they contain palm oil or are palm oil free. Rainforests are being destroyed and being replaced with massive palm tree plantations, to produce palm oil that has become a common ingredient in many food products, especially in chocolate, biscuits and sweets. However, there are plenty of alternatives that do not contain palm oil.
Recently Iceland, the freezer food supermarket, released an advert about the plight of Orang Utans, whose habitat is the Indonesian rainforests, that are being destroyed. It has pledged to remove palm oil from all its own label food products. The advert could not be shown on TV as it was considered to be in breach of rules regarding political messages. However, millions have since viewed it online (It can be viewed further down this page). Actions speak louder than views, though, so if you really want to make a difference, simply make a note of some chocolate or sweets that are delicious, and palm oil free and buy them as alternatives to products that do contain Palm Oil. Please send this page to your friends on social media etc, so they can also see what chocolate etc is palm oil free.
