    Job Role Purposes:

    To support adults with an acquired brain injury to gain basic horticultural

    knowledge, health and safety skills and other related activities whilst also

    supporting them to develop a wide range of compensatory work aids such as

    ways to learn new information, organise their work loads, sustain concentration,

    problem solve, etc.


    Key Responsibilities:

    1.To develop and maintain a range of client responsibilities/activities which are clearly

    documented with appropriate checklists and other related support systems.

    2.To facilitate and enable clients to gain skills and manage their deficits more

    effectively working within a greenhouse/garden environment.

    3.To work as part of a client’s Rehabilitation Team to provide a suitable work

    programme to support the client to develop their vocational and pre-vocational skills

    such as time management, social interaction, following instructions, etc.

    4.To maintain client session notes regarding ongoing client progress.

    5.To provide monthly summary reports to each unit regarding client’s progress.

    6.To facilitate new client visits to the vocational area.

    7.To attend weekly meetings with other Vocational Instructors and the Occupational

    Psychologist to share information and participate in the running of these meetings

    by taking turns to chair and take minutes.

    8.To attend monthly VI review meetings and present information regarding client

    progress and any issues regarding the vocational area.

    9.To be responsible for ordering and stock controlling all gardening supplies, tools

    and equipment for the unit.

    10.To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by your Manager.


    Personal Specification

    Essential Criteria:

    •Experience of working within a greenhouse/garden environment.

    •Good written and verbal communication skills.

    •Proven ability to work within a team.

    •Proven ability to work without supervision.

    •Good interpersonal skills.

    Desirable Criteria:

    •Nationally recognised qualification.

    •Experience of working with disadvantaged adults.

    •Other criteria will vary dependant on vocational role.
