Glenwhan Gardens, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland

BRIEF HISTORY
Just 30 years ago Glenwhan Gardens was little more than Bog, Gorse and Rushes. 12 acres were fenced, and a Shelter Belt of mixed hardwood and softwood Trees planted. The aspect of the Gardens are on a South Facing slope overlooking The Mull of Galloway and Luce Bay with Spectacular views to the Isle of Man. With the help of the Gulf Stream and a great deal of toil, Glenwhan has been transformed into a beautiful Garden crammed with exotic plants from around the world. The Garden is focussed round two lakes where wildfowl maybe seen, and red squirrels play in the woodland. Outwith the garden there is a 17 acre Moorland Walk with over 120 species of wildflowers. The Visitor likes to compare the ground as it was, and see the Gardens as they have been created today.
