The Prince of Wales on a trip to Brazil, Ecuador and Chile has again expressed his concerns about the impact of climate change. Today he gave a speech at the Itamaraty Palace, where he was greeted by the state governors. The Prince warned that the world has 100 months to avoid dire climatic changes.
Earlier, arriving in the Brazil’s capital, Brasilia, The Prince met President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the Planalto Palace to discuss a range of issues from how the global economic slowdown is affecting Brazil to ways of encouraging sustainable development in the country.
The danger posed by global warming has been described as the greatest threat facing mankind by The Prince in a speech in Chile earlier this week.
The Prince has been a long term campaigner in the fight against climate change and set up his Rainforests Project in 2007 to find a solution to save the world's threatened forests and help tackle global warming.
Brazil is home to the Amazon, the world's largest rainforest, and is a key partner in Britain's efforts to get an agreement between nations at a major climate summit being staged in Copenhagen in December.
