Autumn Break Guide

The countryside of the British Isles take's on a particular melancholic beauty in the Autumn months. Blackberries, Crab Apples, and horse chesnuts ripen in the mild daylight and the leaves of our woodlands and forests turn fiery oranges, deep yellows and fire reds combining to make dramatic carpets of colour. There is too many superb destinations to mention and much is already provided on their relevant websites. So rather than attempt to re-invent the wheel on limited resources, here is links to just some of the tourist websites for less visited areas compared with the Lakes, Cornwall and Scottish Highlands that can help you plan a perfect autumnal break.

Scottish Borders - As many people take 'the high road' why not try and take the 'low road' to the historic Scottish Borders, not as wild and dramatic as the highlands, but with their own charm and unique character.

Shropshire - Tucked away in the West Midlands, this rural county of tudor framed buildings and winding lanes is an easy to reach tranquil area ideal for a weekend break.

Lincolnshire - Quiet coastal inlets, flat wide open countryside, which provided the backdrop for the 2005 TV production of Pride and Prejudice.

Kent - Harvest time in the Garden of England, steeped in history and heritage.

Monmouthshire - In the south east corner of Wales, with picturesque woodland valleys chequered with historic inns and cosy tearooms.
